Luang Prabang, Tai Lue Homestay & Arts, Nong Khiaw & Muang Ngoi

An in-depth journey through Northern Laos' living heritage — from the temples and night markets of UNESCO World Heritage Luang Prabang, to hands-on cultural immersion at Tai Lue Homestay & Arts, a 1,000-year-old village in Ban Nayangtai, before continuing to the dramatic river landscapes of Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoi. A true off-the-beaten-path experience of sustainable, community-based tourism.

Day 1:

(Arrival in Luang Prabang): Transfer to Home Base, a peaceful haven within one of Luang Prabang's expansive gardens. Evening: climb Mount Phousi for sunset, then explore the night market.

Day 2:

(Welcome to Tai Lue Homestay & Arts): Morning: arrive at Tai Lue Homestay & Arts in the 1,000-year-old village of Ban Nayangtai. Orientation covers essential Lao expressions, cultural etiquette, and optional volunteering opportunities. Welcome Ceremony: traditional Baci ceremony. Afternoon: guided village tour, traditional Tai Lue lunch, hands-on weaving and natural indigo dyeing workshop with the village's master weavers. Evening: traditional Tai Lue dinner with a cultural performance.

Day 3:

(Handicrafts & Nature): Morning: visit nearby farms and take a guided nature walk. Afternoon: lunch in the village, hands-on handicraft workshop. Evening: traditional herbal sauna, communal dinner with villagers.

Day 4:

(Journey to Nong Khiaw): Morning: scenic drive to Nong Khiaw, check-in. Afternoon: lunch, explore the town and suspension bridge. Evening: hike to the Nong Khiaw viewpoint for sunset, riverside dinner.

Day 5:

 (Nong Khiaw Exploration): Morning: boat trip to Tham Pakwang Cave, a historic site used during the Indochina War. Afternoon: lunch, free time. Evening: traditional Lao dinner riverside.

Day 6:

(Onward to Muang Ngoi): Morning: boat trip up the Nam Ou River to Muang Ngoi, check-in, hike to surrounding villages, lunch with a local family, visit Tham Kang Cave and nearby waterfalls. Afternoon: free time. Evening: cultural performance and dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7:

 (Muang Ngoi Sunrise & Return to Luang Prabang): Morning: sunrise over the surrounding mountains and temples of Muang Ngoi [location detail pending confirmation]; witness the local alms-giving ceremony; browse the morning market. Afternoon: depart for Luang Prabang.

Day 8:

(Departure): Free time before your onward departure from Luang Prabang.
