Tai Lue Homestay & Arts – A 1,000-Year-Old Village in Ban Nayangtai, Luang Prabang

Journey deep into authentic Tai Lue village life in one of Northern Laos' oldest living communities, then continue into the dramatic limestone karst landscapes of Nong Khiaw. This sustainable, community-based itinerary combines hands-on cultural immersion with a scenic riverside adventure — a genuinely off-the-beaten-path experience beyond UNESCO World Heritage Luang Prabang.

Day 1:  (Arrival): Arrival in Luang Prabang and transfer to Home Base, a peaceful retreat within one of Luang Prabang's expansive gardens, managed with ecological and environmental respect. Meet fellow travellers and settle in ahead of your onward journey into the village.

Day 2:  (Welcome to the Village): Morning: arrive at Tai Lue Homestay & Arts in the 1,000-year-old village of Ban Nayangtai, welcomed with a traditional Baci ceremony. Afternoon: guided village tour, traditional Tai Lue lunch, and a hands-on weaving and natural indigo dyeing workshop with the village's master weavers. Evening: traditional Tai Lue dinner with a cultural performance of local music and dance.

Day 3:  (Handicrafts & Nature): Morning: visit nearby farms and take a guided nature walk. Afternoon: lunch in the village followed by a hands-on handicraft workshop. Evening: traditional herbal sauna, then a communal dinner with villagers.

Day 4:  (Journey to Nong Khiaw): Morning: scenic drive to Nong Khiaw and check-in. Afternoon: lunch at a local restaurant, explore the town and the suspension bridge over the Nam Ou River. Evening: hike to the Nong Khiaw viewpoint for sunset, dinner at a riverside restaurant.

Day 5:  (Nong Khiaw Exploration): Morning: boat trip on the Nam Ou River to nearby caves and villages, including Tham Pakwang Cave, a historic site used during the Indochina War. Afternoon: lunch at a local restaurant, free time. Evening: traditional Lao dinner at a riverside restaurant.

Day 6: (Farewell & Departure): Breakfast in Nong Khiaw before returning to Luang Prabang for onward departure.​​
